We won 76-65; a much needed victory to start conference play against a ranked UCLA team.
Brit in her 2 games back showed how much we sorely missed her while she was out. She is fast becoming the Chiney of the '12-'13 team on this year's squad I feel like, but I am hopeful we have a more productive supporting cast around her.
Including Fingall, who was on fire from the high post, knocking down FT jumpers cleanly, which is great to see.
Twenty turnovers including some when the game was still in doubt is frustrating. As the announcers pointed out, do not make it easier for the pressing team to trap and force a turnover by running along the sidelines and then picking up the ball, you're removing one dimension of the court for you to get out of trouble.
Though we were mediocre from the FT line, we did make the critical ones down the stretch which was good to see.
We outrebounded UCLA 48-32, though they did have 16 o-boards. That coupled with our 20 turnovers led to 22(!) more shot opportunities for the Bruins and why we only won by 11 despite shooting nearly 20 percentage points better than they did.
