I don't have a theory for this.  He/coaches tend to call shorter passes on first down (seems likely from the stats) but KJ struggles completing them.

It could be that Costello has trouble with shorter passes, more the ones that require touch  with accuracy, rather than "a Nolan Ryan fastball". That also may be why we don't throw swing passes to Love very often. Against TCU, the passes to Scarlett were pretty far down field, not swing passes or bubble screens. I don't know that this is true, but it could be. Maybe spring ball will see some emphasis on this, if it is the reason. Thoughts?
