Carolina was not a good landing spot.  Newton’s strength is running and downfield throws. He doesn’t see the field particularly well (on the play where Clay dropped the TD McCaffrey was on the other side wide open. He could have crawled in) he is not particularly accurate and while he is a great runner, I think that actually detracts from the effectiveness of the backs in the running game.

Still he had a very good rookie year. And there is no reason to think he won’t get better.
