Maddox was extremely impressive running first to third. With the immense Afro his cap was off by stride 2. I believe Willie Davis was the fastest ever first to third but Maddox must have been very close.

Horace made two big mistakes (actually many more). Maddox for Montanez and letting Gary Mathews go. Gaylord Perry for Sam McDowell probably dwarfed them all.Â An era of doom and gloom hung over the Giants until '82.
