It's not clear that McDaniels ever gave that verbal commitment, per ESPN. My money's on Irsay jumping the gun.

Usually I would be the first one to dump on Irsay, but McDaniels convinced four assistant coaches around the league to quit their jobs to join him in Indianapolis, this is on him.
