So, to sum up tonight's action, there are five events in the following order:
* 200 (4x50) Free Relay (Hu-Manuel-Pitzer-Howe set an American Record in prelims; Stanford is the top seed for the final)
* 500 Freestyle (Ledecky was the top seed coming in and crushed the field in prelims; Drabot also in the A final and Forde and Pitzer are in the B)
* 200 IM (Eastin had the second-fastest time in prelims; Ally Howe in the B final)
* 50 Freestyle (Manuel was the top seed coming in, and tied for the 3rd fastest time in prelims)
* 400 (4x100) Medley Relay (Hu-Zhao-Engel-Manuel set a pool record in prelims; Stanford is the top seed for the final)
In other words, it would not be shocking if Stanford won all five events tonight. A slight surprise, sure, but Stanford goes into those five events seeded 1-1-2-3-1, and you know Manuel can find another gear for a final.
The events start at 6 Eastern/3 Pacific this evening/afternoon, and the A final in each event is immediately preceded by the B final, so there's at least a little opportunity for rest for swimmers doubling up events. And there's also the 1-meter diving final, which is on the schedule for after the 50 free and before the 4x100 medley relay.
