David Shaw has shown himself to be a very conservative playcaller on the whole this year. And it has cost us. Obviously he wasn't watching the Georgia - Michigan St game earlier today, lost in similar circumstances, but maybe he should've been. I'm sure the comparison will be made on Sportscenter.
To squander all that time with Andrew Luck having such a heroic drive is inexcusable. Even if you want to play for the field goal, there's no reason we shouldn't have used our timeouts, and either run or pass it conservatively to get even closer.
David Shaw wasted one of the finest performances by a QB and RB I've ever seen in a bowl game. Let's hope he learned some lessons this year.
