Nice start for the women. Not taking anything away from St. John's, but I really don't understand the logic behind having them travel 3,000 miles to play a match in a non-revenue sport where the outcome technically was decided in about an hour but realistically was decided before they ever left NYC.

I think a lot of the lower ranked automatic bid teams are based on the East Coast, the Northeast in particular, and there just aren’t enough top seeds on the East Coast to accommodate them, so someone was getting shafted. It was just a question of which team, and St. John’s drew the short straw.
