I watched several of Lord's games.  Way way too many unforced errors.  She can't beat a decent number two playing like that.


"Yeah, it was sloppy enough that you wonder if she was just getting frustrated to be playing a grinder that obviously wasn’t as good as she was."

That seems a plausible explanation.  I hope it's the right one.

The tennis team somewhat resembles the golf team.  Both teams have an enormously gifted #2 who is playing inconsistently and two players right behind her, in #3 and #4, are playing like #2's--or close enough to it to be overwhelming favorites to win.   

Alas for us golf fans, there's a brobdingnagian difference: Higuchi looks like an all-but sure win in the final spot for the tennis, while Aubert is a question mark--and the X Factor--for the golf team.
