Giants ERA, two seasons plus... 4.69 plus a ton of gopher balls.

Way overpaid.

Yes, it was a massive reach.  In 2015, the year before we got him, he gave up the most hits (228), earned runs (118) and home runs (29) in the league.  Last year, he had the most losses in the league with a 4.42 ERA.  This year, he's at a 6.94 ERA so far.  He's given up five home runs in 23 1/3 innings, 1.9 HR per 9 innings pitched, highest in his career.  Incidentally, last year he had the fewest walks per nine innings at 1.4.  This might be part of the issue.

I give him a brobdingnagian plus for coming back before he was completely healthy and ready for the grind.  He did so because the team was depleted of starters.  He is a team guy and receives plaudits from this Giants fan for sucking it up and doing him best under very difficult circumstances.  Well done, Shark....
