Imagine playing in Oregon high school golf back then, meaning from the end of March to beginning of June. Hitting it at sea level into cool damp marine air over and into rain-dampened fairways (drives did not roll until after July 4) with a dinky-headed persimmon driver hitting a balata ball. We had a 255- yard par four that no one ever reached--and that was from a group that produced one golf All American, another who played in the NCAA championships, and a third who in high school scored better than both of them. Totally different game.
The story for me is, can LSU catch TCU? LSU just went nuts on 4 and 5, neither of them birdie holes--and six is one. They want to make up two more shots on that hole. And if they do, it's another hint that they're hot.
We're in very good shape. We wanted to go -2 over the first five and bettered that. If we can get get past 17 with a couple pars and no doubles, we're in even better shape.
