This is a prime example of a terrible trend in sports, what the blog Uni Watch defines as, “Black For Black’s Sake” — or BFBS. When a team gratuitously adds black to their uniform design even though black was never one of their team colors.
Notice how...
- None of college football's elite teams (Alabama, Penn State, USC, Clemson, LSU, Florida) permanently adds black to its uniform?
- Within a year of junking the 2002-2007 black-trimmed unis, Stanford returned to a bowl game for the first time...since its last year without them?
The first step to playing like the Buddy/Wlat years is dressing like them.
I take issue not only with these uniforms, but also anyone who defends them.
