I like it.  The thin black trim around the numbers makes them stand out better and doesn't change the basic look of the uniform at all.  It would be different if they had a thicker black trim or if they had the offset look with a really thick black band on two sides to add fake depth.  This looks sharp.  As a person who has had to live my life with some vision deficits, I always like changes that add sharp contrast elements.  (I realize that this view is personal.)

As for the all black uniforms (the gun metal black with the silver logo helmet), I don't love them but the players do.  I think it is a good idea to give the players the choice of when to wear the "special" black uniform once a year as we have been.  I have long had Stanford hats and shirts that are black and the cardinal and white world did not vanish.  I don't believe the uniforms have anything to do with our winning or losing but we have done pretty well in the all black unis over the last few years.
