Not all sporting events are Greek tragedies, though I guess for many years Stanford football was.
There is no universal answer, of course. Not only will it be different for everyone but different for every event.
In general, I have much greater excitement and suspense when watching live (and don't know the outcome), and much more relaxed enjoyment when I do (or at least relaxed resignation if we had lost).
I like Stanford football games either way.
I don't much care for baseball after I know the outcome, much of the allure of baseball to me is the build-up of suspense.
