The best thing about the game were the skydivers bringing in the flag. Great precision.
The stadium looked to be more than half empty to me. I thought we'd have a bigger crowd.
I stayed until the end (always do, win or lose) and headed closer to enjoy the band for the few minutes they are allowed to play after the game. The team did not head to the band corner after the game, they went directly to the locker room, and the band did not play the Alma mater. That felt wrong. I think the team should always go join the band for the playing of Hail Stanford Hail.
Couldn't have asked for a better night to play the game. The weather was terrific.
A very winnable game that slipped through our hands due to too many mistakes:
-running into the kicker (7 points)
-pick six (10 points...their 7 and the loss of our 3)
-2nd int in red zone (3 points)
-soft defense at end of half (3 points)
That's 23 points that we let go due to our mistakes. In general, the passing game was very good, although KJ underthrew a few passes. The running game is surprisingly non-existent. Our defensive line can't stop the run and our pass defense leaves a lot of underneath passes to go uncontested. One safety in particular has been the victim of YAC and taking poor angles on running backs.
Even our reliable punter wasn't able to drop the punts inside the 20, kicking twice into the end zone.
A forgetable game with the bright side that we are still in control of our Rose Bowl destiny. No room for error any more. Need to beat everyone left to get to the P12 championship game.
Another downer was that we had many recruits in attendance.
