I am speaking of defensive linemen period.  A strong contribution from a college DL in his second year is not common in any program.  Solomon Thomas, Scott Crichton, and Leonard Williams are major outliers.

So are you saying that the D-line has the talent to be better next year and that Reynolds has the chops to coach and develop the existing talent, while recruiting a pipeline of new talent?  A stout D-line is fundamental to Stanford's "identity"; and without one, Shaw will not be able to run his system successfully.
