I'm with Yvonne on this. SI's Stewart Mandel had some interesting thoughts on the Penn State job in a recent Mailbag entry of his. It's in the middle of the 2nd page; not sure if I got the link right.

Some of the issues he raised might well be reasons for Roman to have thought he could do better elsewhere.
