Well, that's not quite right. Stanford tried very hard for JT Daniels and was even believed to be the leader at one point. Obviously he went with SC, which, fine, whatever, you win some, you lose some. The approach post-Daniels was the problem: the coaches seemed to be kicking the tires with a bunch of guys but never got around to offering until Hilinski, deep in the year. It was a worst of all worlds approach and now the team's got a good returning starter in Costello and big question marks with West and Mills. If fortunate, the team might be able to squeeze through without incident. If not, there'll be problems.
