One other thing Tara should have been upset by: the end of the first half sequence. Stanford had just pushed the lead out to 21, 42-21, just before the under-4 minute timeout. Chiney and Bonnie exited for Joslyn and Taylor. The Ducks then got an offensive board and stickback to cut it to 19. Nneka converted one of two FTs to make it 43-23 with about 2:30 left.
Then:
Short jumper for Ducks. Turnover by Amber on the perimeter leads to short jumper in the lane for the Ducks. Missed 3 by Toni only about 15 seconds into the shot clock leads to layup in transition for Oregon. 43-29. 6 points in under a minute.
Missed 3 by Lindy followed by Nneka's second foul going for the offensive board; Lindy took the shot with no defender in her face, but also had Nneka wide open with her defender pinned under the basket. Nneka comes out.
Miss by Ducks rebounded, and Lindy misses another 3 only about 15 seconds into the shot clock, and gives up another short jumper in transition. 43-31.
And the last possession, another missed three by Lindy as the game clock ran down and Stanford hadn't really run much of an offense.
8 straight points to end the half, and what could've been a blowout at halftime instead turned into a game that gave the Ducks a bit of confidence. I think that sequence might have been what prompted Tara's comments.
