Given the above comments, how do we apply that reasoning to someone deciding to take four or five  years worth of physical damage to get an undergraduate degree? Does the number of team wins factor into that calculation? Does it matter if those wins are FBS vs D-III? I am an avid college football spectator, but recently I am having trouble seeing the value proposition from the student's point of view. That includes my alma mater, LSJU.

Question re value proposition is a good one. Factor in that student likely getting into a school that he couldn't otherwise get into, that some view it as training ground for NFL, that some really enjoy playing, that scholarship is not taxable so probably worth 50% more than it appears, and equation is more balanced. But lot of kids could probably get need scholarships if they could get admitted so value of football scholarship to them is less.
