Why are expectations not higher? For those of us who suffered for decades, the answer is simple: we cannot be disappointed if we start out with low expectations, but we can be pleasantly surprised.
After years of poor to mediocre teams, it is a defense mechanism. Even a decade of excellence hasn't entirely cured us.
