Obviously not sure what happened here, but I can't believe that the tweet from the Cardinal report would have that big of an impact on Murphy's decision (at least I hope it wouldn't).  Anyone choosing to come to Stanford should be thinking about the big "40-year decision" as our recruiters point out.  If someone would seriously consider changing their mind over an issue like this, I'm not sure they are ready for Stanford anyway.

Having said that, it is possible that Murphy will go elsewhere. I just don't believe this tweet would be the reason.  More optimistically, I wonder if Murphy just wants to tell certain people in person, rather than have the news tweeted, and hopefully a formal announcement is coming soon.
