With Stanford winning both the singles and doubles championships at Northwest Regionals, that means that we'll see three Stanford players at the ITA Fall National Championships--Michaela Gordon in singles and Emily Arbuthnott and Angelica Blake in doubles.
Fall Nationals takes place November 7-10 in Newport Beach, CA. The same weekend, Stanford will also travel to the San Diego State Fall Classic, so presumably we'll see Janice Shin, Sara Choy, and Niluka Madurawe at that tournament (as well as Emma Higuchi and Nicole Mossmer, if they're healthy).
Gordon's third straight Northwest Regional championship is something that hasn't been done by anyone that I can remember. Nicole Gibbs won this tournament just once. Kristie Ahn won it twice, and not consecutively. (I don't know that there's never been a three-peat by one player, so I'm hedging.) I'm hopeful that this marks the start of a dominant regular season for her, and for her to add some postseason individual success to her resume.
