I hope Kim and Danielson hang in there. Mariah Stackhouse is making some money on the tour and would love to see her get a win. Is it just Wie and Stackhouse who are currently on the LPGA tour? If Kim and Danielson can make it, followed by Lee and Valenzuela soon, Stanford would have some decent representation.
Partway through the first round (of eight!), both Lee and Valenzuela are at even par. Valenzuela started on the back 9 and bogeyed 16 before getting a birdie on 17 (she's through 9 holes), while Lee has been more up and down, with three birdies and three bogeys through 13. Lauren Kim is in the lead, at -4 through 13.
Half the field has yet to tee off, of course, but for the moment, Lee and Valenzuela are T14. FYI, the top 45 (including ties) get LPGA tour cards, so that's the line to watch.
Also a reminder that this is an EIGHT-ROUND event. Four rounds this week and four next week. Insane...
The true talent should surely rise to the top over 8 rounds.
