My understanding from private chats with two reporters who cover the LPGA & Q-school is that if Lee and/or turn pro that they would continue their education through graduation in June. I'm not OK with that. If they choose to leave school to go full-time on the LPGA that's a completely different story, but they shouldn't be allowed to compete professionally while their education is being funded by a scholarship.
I assume you are perfectly OK with them staying in school while competing professionally, but not with them receiving a scholarship while so doing. I would assume that if they quit the team, which they must when they cease to be amateurs, they must also give up their scholarship. Is that not correct?
Correct. They earned their admission and have every right to complete their degree whether that is in 2020 or in the future. It just shouldn't be paid for by a scholarship whose terms they are no longer honoring. If they do forfeit their scholarship by turning pro, then I have no issue. That was not my understanding.
I still prefer that they complete their college season and then turn pro.
