Our defense was crippled with injuries.
Having said that, you would think we would have learned to play against Wazzu's Air Raid better than we have. Every year we get torched.
I wonder if you compared recruiting rankings whether WSU offensive players were any higher rated than the people we had on the field.
They almost never are, no matter what Pac-12 defense they're playing. (Except maybe Oregon State and Arizona.) Mostly mid-3* and Juco guys. The system makes them look really good. Even more so for USC now, since their receivers are all studs - combine that with the Air Raid and it makes their freshman qb look amazing.
