I will conclude that was terrible defense against even worse offense and very good offense against bade defense.

I think you almost have it right. I would say it was a terrible defense (WSU) against an average offense (Stanford) vs a very good offense(WSU) against a bad to terrible defense(Stanford).

WSU is quite clearly the superior team.
