My enthusiasm for Big Game never wanes. I wear red and my Axe pin every day all week. I sing the Dirty Golden Bear under my breath all week, and sometimes out loud. And I remind myself of some of the great moments I've witnessed since going to my first Big Game in 1984.
But I admit my enthusiasm for this team has waned considerably, especially the last two weeks. Not because of the results per se, but because of how the results were achieved. These players deserve to be better than 4-6, and I think they would be with a better coaching (and training/S&C) staff.
My enthusiasm for the greatest collegiate athletics program in history will never wane. But my level of enthusiasm for the football program will depend greatly on whether Shaw is willing to make sufficient, significant changes in the offseason. This is not a one-year blip.
Now BEAT CAL!! It's called the STANFORD Axe for a reason!!
