Appreciate your posting the article, Yvonne. But I am always surprised at how often some of our red-shirt freshmen get overlooked in favor of the incoming recruits (who have not even signed LOI yet!). Mention of Barry Sanders, but no mention of Remound Wright or Kelsey Young at RB? Mention of the 4-Star OLmen coming in (though Fanaika may yet take his LDS mission before stepping foot on campus), but no mention of Brendon Austin or Kevin Rheiner as possible challengers for positions on the OL? This is not the first article to display this oversight. I'm not meaning to downplay the importance of this incoming class, if it pans out. But it seems to me that as good as the true freshmen might be, players who have a year of exposure to uni. level weight training and conditioning, and more importantly the playbook, probably have a better chance of finding their way onto the field than do kids who are straight out of HS. If, on the other hand, some of the redshirt freshmen are dealing with injury issues that might slow their development, that kind of info should be included.
A little actual reporting might help this out too. How about interviewing a coach or two, even if all they give you is a canned comment about players working hard and getting a chance. Who knows, maybe they divulge some information about a player who looks particularly good, or someone struggling through an injury. Come on, Stanford Daily!
