To your point, they weren't deleted, but simply buried in an unreadable, jumble of a thread. Same result. Slicker censorship.

No posts or threads were deleted or locked.

The one downside that I can see is that in merged threads, it might be a bit more difficult to see who is replying to whom, since the posts are merged in the order the were written. Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to preview the merged thread to be sure it was still cohesive before merging them.
