Consider the moderators your friendly Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and our Admin the Chair. Every so often, interest rates need to be raised or lowered, or money injected into, or withdrawn from, the system. Those decisions aren't always perfect, and sometime receive criticism. But they're necessary to maintain a functional market over the long term.
The real world alternative is the state of nature, and the online alternative, following Godwin's law, is the dissent to 4-chan levels of quality of discourse.
Knowing what I know about Cornfed, I don’t think that argument will hold much sway. I think the better argument would be to say that he or anyone else is free to start their own discussion group and let the marketplace of ideas hold sway. There are of course other discussion groups , many with different feels, and one of the reasons I’ve moved here is that very same marketplace of ideas; I didn’t enjoy being on those other sites. Many people I know from those other sites are now here, proving that the marketplace of ideas works.
