The question isn't whether Shaw has a sense of urgency or desire to improve. The question is whether he realizes that he and his staff are a significant part of the problem, and even if he realized that whether he would be willing to make the necessary changes.
Speaking as a Stanford alum, I am totally lazy, I have no sense of urgency, and absolutely no desire to improve. Of course, I'm retired and not accountable to anyone. Shaw isn't.
