Un-snarky question. How many years do you give Farhan before a playoff appearance? Lynch did it in three. And he inherited an absolute mess. Granted that a common draft and a sport where first year players can have immediate impact I would say that Farhan deserves more than a football GM. But how many?

Given the addiction to metrics the Giant management has passed on the “gut feeling” reason to ever fire him.

How long did it take the Astros?

In 2013 they were 51-111 (their third of three consecutive 100-loss seasons starting in 2011).  Two years later they made the playoffs as a wildcard.  Two years after that they won the WS.  If you figure this year will be the first 100-loss season, the Giants will hit their nadir in 2022 and should make the playoffs no later than 2024 and win the series in 2026.
