The point was that many thought he couldn’t play running back in the NFL. Which I think motivated him big time. I always thought that’s one of the reasons he didn’t play in the bowl game - he wanted to get himself in top condition and be ready for the combine. I think he felt he needed to prove his athleticism. Stereotypes are hard to shake.

Who could say if his stats wouldn't be even more off the charts playing that position? McCaffrey's been incredible and is carry an amazing load, but I do wonder about his career longevity with his current load, though. Hopefully Carolina kind figure out a QB situation that will relieve the load somewhat.
