Refereeing is certainly biased.  I think it was Viking Guy who posted the link to the statistical study that showed that referees favor the home team over the visiting team, and they favor the team behind over the team ahead.  The stats in that study seemed incontrovertible to me.

As the visiting team that was ahead for most of the game, I am sure we picked up a lot of that bias.

A number of years back, don't remember how many, there was an article in Sports Illustrated about the source of "home field advantage," for all sports. The conclusion as I recall it was that it was officiating bias in favor of the home team, probably influenced by crowd reaction to officiating.
