Would be nice to keep Pryts. He led the team in tackles and played a bunch of STs to boot. Graded out better than Robinson.
Overall, we're way more often in nickel, so only have 2 DL on the field 80+% of the time. 3rd and short would usually be a "normal" 3-4. Goal line/4th and short would be 3-4 or 4-4 depending on the opponent's offensive personnel/formation. This is why we need our OLBs to be on the bigger side since they're usually either rushing the passer or containing the edge. Toohill was pushing 250, for example. Andres Fox is 6'4" 252 which is close to ideal edge rusher/heavy OLB/weak-side DE weight, though I'm unsure what's happening with him now.
The 2015 Rose Bowl team rotated 3.5 DL all year and was similarly almost always in nickel. At the very least there will be more depth than that. Not so sanguine about quality though. Booker is solid, DWP has shown flashes, Schaffer has come a long way, Pakola a well-regarded recruit. But we need the whole room to step it up. Personally I would love to see Ryan Johnson gain some more weight and actually contribute...certainly a massive opportunity here. Agree that Tobin Phillips will more than likely burn his shirt - he's coming in with great size from day 1. Early PT a very realistic pitch for some '21 DL recruits.
Had Dylan Powell stayed this year (was the backup C last season), I would've been screaming from the heavens to move Drake Nugent to DL. He was first-team all-state DL in HS, has the size (listed at 6'2" 284 and probably heavier now) and strength (state champ in discus), and I have my suspicions incoming frosh Drake Metcalf will take the C job sooner rather than later. We'd need to recruit another C though, stat.
