Aside from being Stanford teams, they don't have much in common. Different systems, different strengths and weakness, etc. There really isn't a reason to use the men's team as a comparison. It isn't helpful IMO and many women are tired of always having their sports compared to men's. The men's college game is not the same as the women's. The rules aren't even all the same anymore.
The exceeding need for some Stanford folks to always be "sensitive" and politically correct is just painful - can people just be honest instead of always wanting to give out trophies to everyone? For the record, my comments had nothing to do with comparing the MBB and WBB in terms of one being better than the other so as to diminish the other. I was pointing out the obvious facts related to specific defensive skills and implementing those skills (and importantly doing them with team work). My point is that the MBB team is basically over achieving because they are doing so well at those skills. And though I believe that our WBB is deserving to be in the top 10 as they are constituted right now, they need to be doing the same skills (and energy/intensity) as the MBB team to get to a higher rung nationally or even win the P12 since we have UO and Ucla as to beat out.
Put it this way; how often do you see our entire rotation of players (not just 2 or 3) play with the same degree of aggression, energy, intensity, hustle, and physicality as many of our opponents? How many games are we winning basically because we have better players, better coaching, more depth? If we played as hard and fast - most all game long - like a number of our opponents, we would be in the top 3 or 5 and be right there going for a NC. That's the difference - we have top 10 talent (and great coaching), but the extra I described would make us even better e.g. liek CU was able to take us to the wire twice even though I think that we have a much better team.
