Other than those mentioned in the story, a lot of other swimmers contributed significantly by making the A-finals, including a couple of freshman (Alex Crisera and Emma Wheal) and a number of sophomores.
Re NCAAs, the last couple of years Stanford has had more qualifiers than the number a team can bring. (I believe a team can bring 18 swimmers, with divers each counting as 1/2 of a swimmer.) If memory serves, Hannah Kukurugya qualified both years in multiple events, but was left off the NCAA roster when the divers were added, given that she was much less likely to score points at NCAAs than the divers. This year she's safely on the NCAA team with a 4th place finish in the 400 IM at Pac-12s with a time that stands to score at NCAAs.
On the other hand, last year's Pac-12 winner of the 200 breast, and 16th at NCAAs, Grace Zhao, is right around the cut line for qualifying for NCAAs. Similarly, Megan Byrnes, who got 3rd in the 1650 at NCAAs her freshman year and 4th her sophomore year, is also right around the cut off for qualifying for NCAAs this year. (There is a total number of swimmers/divers who are invited, and it comes out to about 36th place in each event.) Whereas those expected to compete for the A-final at NCAAs often swim Pac-12s unrested, so as to maximize their performance at NCAAs, I strongly doubt that Zhao or Byrnes did not taper for Pac-12s, given that they had not qualified at an early-season meet, as many of the other swimmers had. The cases of Zhao and Byrnes illustrates how competitive the sport is, and how hard it must be to keep your edge in the face of other life interests and demands, the years of swimming day after day, possible nagging injuries or illness, etc. And the falling off in their performance makes it all the more impressive when a Senior like Voss wins for the first time. (Not only that, she's got a freakin' 4.0 in computer science!)

Kukurugya qualifed and swam in the NCAA's as a freshman, but was left off the NCAA team as a sophomore after qualifying for three events. Junior Katie Glanovich qualified for NCAA's her freshman and sophomore year but was left off the travel roster.
