There are reports this has happened in Europe. Now it's happening in NYC, and probably other places in the U.S. as well. If we aren't counting the number of dead properly, how do we arrive at an accurate CFR for Covid-19, or even an accurate assessment of resources needed to cope with the true impact of what the virus creates?
To me, the easiest thing to do is look at historical mortality rate and then compare to deaths during pandemic. The delta is the Covid-19 impact. I'm all for proper accounting, but how does it really matter if someone died of Covid-19 or a heart attack, when both are caused by Covid-19, one the disease, and one the fact the response system was too overwhelmed to save a life that would have been saved if Covid-19 didn't exist?
