They outbanged the very physical Irish. Devereaux Peters was 1-8, big guard Natalie Novosel 6-14, and they got outrebounded. And Peters and primary post backup Achonwa both fouled out, Achonwa in 11 minutes. That said, the one difference was ft shooting; WVU 21-25, ND 16-25. Diggins had the ball with the score tied and 36 seconds left, ran the clock down and drove, didn't get the foul call and then committed an absolutely stupid foul that put the Mountaineers at the line for 2 shots with 5 seconds left. They hit both, and ND missed a runner and then a desperation tip.
WVU would be a hard matchup for us; they play like Xavier did with Phillips and Harris two years ago. Bang first, hit hard and pound the ball inside to their two bigs.
