I think the racism digression started with a false conjecture that hiring diversity specialists was related to the 11 sports cut, whether by budget or function.  That conjecture doesn't pass the smell test as some of those 11 sports contribute to diversity, and that the university (not the athletic department) seems to be hiring the diversity specialists.  May we never hear this kind of ridiculousness again.

Looks like there are various grassroots alumni responses to the announcement forming, both through each of the 11 programs' alumni and through the general alumni population.  No one's going to take this sitting down, even if the athletic department did their best to shock and awe the coaches and students into thinking all would be inevitable.
