Though ESPN WBB proctologist Charlie Creme still lives five graduating classes ago (when UNC was decent and deserved an at-large bid), Viking's question is, I believe, misdirected. More than one year ago, the NCAA WBB braintrust awarded 1st+2nd round sites. Did no brainiac notice that there was only one early site in the Pacific Time Zone? And only three (of 16) west of the Mississippi? Creme is an east-coast-bias jerk, but sending the Cardinal way east to start March Madness is not on his shoulders. (Gonzaga's loss today doesn't affect their placement in Spokane. But the selection committee now has a reason to send Stanford to Spokane early, despite the regular-season mismatch between those squads.)
