But, it seems to me that the flu season should be the smallest in decades, if not all time, in the US. Given the mask wearing & social distancing and to some extent, hand washing, only those that were lax enough that they could have gotten COVID-19 will be getting the flu.
You are probably correct that the things we are doing to decrease "R" for COVID-19 will also decrease "R" for influenza, and consequently we will probably have a very mild influenza season, or, that is my hope. But we can't be sure until we look back, so I think we should all do our best to protect ourselves and others against the flu, which means getting vaccinated.
