Well, might not be the CDC head, but at least one person has resigned rather than continue to support the administration.  Of course, this is someone who has had a very public disagreement.

Dr. Bright did the right thing IMHO. If you are in a serious philosophical disagreement with the organization that employs you, have informed them of your disagreement and have been told things won't change, you have to either accept that fact or quit. Quitting in order to make a point is often futile, but also often necessary.
