There is nothing dull about a hard fought low scoring close football game. One of the best games I ever saw was the Niners beating the Giants 7-3. Ronnie Lott was possessed. A heat seeking missle. Every yard was earned. A fantastic game.
I enjoy high scoring games at times as well. But there are so many now, that I tend to say “yawn” another TD. I prefer a 2-1 baseball game over 10-9 also.
There is also, to me at least, a difference between a high scoring game in which at least the defenses are “present” and many of these games when you’ll simply see wide-open receivers all over the field 5 yard pass is turned into 60 yard touchdowns and nothing that even resembles resistance defensively. I find much of the Big 12 for example to be like that. Which is why I really don’t like watching that football.
Alabama and Georgia was a fairly high scoring football game. But you can’t say watching that game that they were playing against lousy defenses. It’s also why I enjoy watching the SEC. Plenty of high flying offenses. But generally also a heck of a lot of talent speed and defensive ability.
