Both parties are equally guilty in Congress of seeking (perceived, probably not actual) political advantage over the public good. DACA is a great example. Obama really didn't want to "solve" this by an Executive Order, but he couldn't get Congress to act. Obama wasn't even fully convinced what he was doing was legal, but he felt he had no other choice. Both parties were actually glad he did what he did because then the individual congressmen/senators didn't have to actually go on record regarding the issue.
The stupidity here is absolutely obvious. It is clear that whatever the merits, there is not anywhere near enough public support for deporting all the DACA eligible people. Given that, the country needs to do something else to deal with the issue. Yet Congress simply won't.
