1. We are in a raging pandemic getting way worse than ever before.
2. Playing college sports presents an air of normalcy and everything is fine that paints a false picture of reality and belies the seriousness of it.
3. The quarantining of players who test positive or have close contacts is going to vary wildly between teams.
4. False positive tests can incorrectly and unfairly keep players out, like this mind-blowing Davis Mills case.
5. When you have to cancel as many college games as they have, it's a pretty clear indication they shouldn't be playing.
The NFL has it right. If you decide to play, power through everything unless there is a major team outbreak. This one case leads to quarantines that make playing games impossible or with significantly limited personnel, is silly.
I was surprised that the Pac12 decided to play games.
The Notre Dame rushing the field incident was, by itself, proof enough that college football should have been shut down this year. The fact that Kelly told the team, before the game, that the field would be rushed, is damning.
And 0 positive player tests, post mosh pit (at least per squib on ESPN last night). That could change, of course, and any positive test may (or may not) be tied to the pit.
P.S. The "yellow jackets" trying to discourage fans from rushing the field reminded me of those poor guys at Cal back in the Willingham Era, when CalFan rushed the field after a loss to get some of the Stanford Fans celebrating down where the bad was playing in that end zone. The difference was, NDFan was happy/giddy, while CalFan had mayhem on his mind. Regardless, those "security" guys weren't paid nearly enough for that fiasco.
