Sheesh Teejers. On four out of the five Colorado touchdowns, there was a blown assignment. I mean, delays of game and time outs are highly visible, and easy to counterfactualize, but at best you can consider them indicators rather than causative of a problem, and in the end we scored 32 points. But when our coaches can't even get our players to be in the right position to make a play, when they are messing up the most fundamental concepts of football such as keeping outside contain (not once, but twice on virtually identical plays, the second time without even having a pulling guard) to me that is a more serious indictment of the coaches.
I mean, you can fix all the time outs and delays of game, and maybe we have a little more clock to mount a last drive, but if you fix the fundamentals (to be sure, a more demanding task, but one that ought to be well within the capability of an average coach), then we win this thing in a blowout. For as long as Shaw has been a coach, we have had issues with delays of game, and while they are frustrating, they didn't prevent us from going to three Rose Bowls in four years. What is dispiriting now is that either we are not recruiting the same caliber of players, or we aren't coaching them up to make fundamental football plays (and to me, I think it's more the latter).
Sure, the DoG's and TO's are frustrating, but unless we fix the deeper issues we are going to be a below average team in the Pac-12.
