I was on the Wrestling team in 1974-75 when it was a varsity sport. Then it got cut by the AD to club status. We raised donations and eventually, a wealthy donor funded the team back to varsity status. Over the years Stanford Wrestling developed into a great program. Sad to see that the AD made this decision. Wrestling is definitely not a "country club" sport. Many of the athletes increase the diversity of the student body.
