It’s a non year. I’m Jeff Kenting it. “Just enjoy the game”. 3 1/2 hours of escape. That’s enough for me right now.
This will be the first game with Mills being “whole”. He hadn’t practiced in 10 days or so pre-Colorado. And it showed. The receivers came on a bit in second half. Wilson has had a couple costly drops. This will be St. Browns first full game I think.
Hoping for a good showing. Heck it’s 7:30. Still 6 hours to kickoff. Just hoping they play.
Everything else is just Jeff Kenting it. Teams are getting new opponents 24-72 hours before a game. Teams in NCAAF and NFL are going to games without having practiced as a team for a full week. Many teams play in states where they can't practice as a full team or even eat a team meal together.
Some coaches will have players or structures that will thrive in this situation, others will not. Unless this becomes our new normal forever, it will be best to just enjoy without reading too much into it.
Some coaches will look like miracle workers in 2020 and land deals they can't possibly justify in normal seasons. And a few good coaches may be fired, especially in the NFL, that probably will bounce right back once football teams can return to a traditional structure.
Would be great to have COVID19 not impact Stanford Football, but the California and SCC restrictions are only compounding other challenges the program has right now.
I am very worried about how California and SCC restrictions may impact other Stanford teams. The teams with very real NCAA team title aspirations. In a lot of sports just one COVID positive test will have the potential to destroy the title hopes for the season.
